I began working as a paralegal in 2011, bringing my breadth of education, training and life experience to my work. Prior to entering the legal profession, I worked in the fields of accounting, operations management and property management, as well as being the proprietor of an equestrian camp for girls. My private investigation training and administrative experience also serve me well as a Virginia Registered Paralegal. In 2013, I completed the Family Mediator Professional Certification program through Northern Virginia Mediation Services and facilitate clients to resolve their cases without litigation in that capacity as well.
I am on the Board of Directors of the Paralegal Association of Northern Virginia. I am an active member of the Fairfax Bar Association, participating the Paralegal Section where I have previously served as Chair, Vice-Chair and as the Continuing Legal Education Coordinator. I am also an active member and hold my Advanced Certified Paralegal designation from the NALA – The Paralegal Association where I completed the the inaugural class of LEAD in 2024, an elite nine-month program designed to grow leaders to shape the future of the organization and the paralegal profession nationwide.
As the senior family law paralegal, I supervise our support team and assist each of the attorneys at the firm on our domestic relations cases. I work with clients to help them navigate through the processes involved in their cases. I assist clients to collect information and documentation relevant to their cases. I draft correspondence, proposals, agreements, pleadings and discovery requests and responses. During litigation, I work closely with both the client and the attorneys to prepare the case for trial, including interviewing potential witnesses, managing evidence and often providing emotional support to our clients.
My passion is conflict resolution. In 1995, I became a facilitator for the National Coalition Building Institute, where I conducted numerous university, community and government sector workshops in the Northern Virginia area on such issues as welcoming diversity, parent-teen communication and workplace conflict resolution. Although not appropriate in all cases, it is particularly satisfying as a family law mediator to facilitate couples working together to reach agreements that are finely tuned to their families’ circumstances and needs.
Whether assisting a client as a paralegal, or working with couples as a mediator, I strive to empower people to have a voice and support them in making well-reasoned decisions in the midst of a stressful and difficult time in their lives.
I have diverse interests including motorcycle riding and leading the Loudoun County and Bull Run Chapters of Armed Women of America. I live on a small farm in Western Loudoun County with my human family and a menagerie of animals, including my dogs Nikolai and Astrid, who can frequently be found lying at my feet whether I am working from home or in the office.
